AhlulBayt News Agency: The suffering of Gaza’s residents continues to worsen 100 days after the ceasefire, with dire humanitarian conditions and calls for urgent international intervention, according to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). France has meanwhile announced new food aid shipments to the territory.
In a statement, the ICRC said Gaza’s population is enduring extremely harsh living conditions, stressing the urgent need to end violence and ensure the rapid and sustainable delivery of humanitarian aid.
It added that severe weather conditions are further aggravating the suffering of residents and intensifying their daily struggle for survival.
Despite progress in implementing the second phase of the ceasefire agreement and the formation of a national committee to manage Gaza’s affairs, the humanitarian crisis persists due to worsening living conditions and shortages of food and healthcare.
In this context, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that a container ship carrying about 383 tons of food aid left the Port of Le Havre on Sunday, bound for Gaza.
According to the ministry, the aid is intended to improve the health of more than 42,000 children in Gaza aged six months to two years who are suffering from malnutrition.
The French government stated that the shipment includes nutritional supplements to be distributed at one dose per day for six months to help prevent acute malnutrition, according to ministry spokesperson Pascal Confavreux.
The ship is expected to arrive at Egypt’s Port Said in about ten days, after which the World Food Programme (WFP) will oversee the transfer of aid into Gaza.
French President Emmanuel Macron reaffirmed on X that France is “mobilizing all its efforts to support the people of Gaza.”
The foreign ministry added that since October 7, 2023, France has delivered more than 1,300 tons of humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza.
It also urged Israel to remove all obstacles preventing the United Nations and humanitarian organizations from delivering aid to all areas of Gaza “independently and impartially.”
